A FEW FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How much will it cost for my book to be published? Pelican Publications offers a choice of packages which are fully explained on our downloadable document. The price of publishing your book depends upon choices you make about publishing in colour or black and white and if you wish your book to be available for sale or just for yourself. You may also want typing and proof reading services, and all books will need laying out in preparation for printing. How long will it take for my book to be printed? It usually takes about eight weeks. If you want us to proof-read your work or type your manuscript it will obviously take longer and on submission of your work we can give you a realistic time-scale for completion. What about the size and layout of my book? The available options for the layout of your book can be seen on our downloadable document. You can select from a range of sizes and styles depending on your personal choice. Who owns the copyright? You as the author own the copyright (unless you sell it or assign it to anyone else). For further information see our downloadable document. What is an ISBN and is there any legal work involved in the publishing of my book? It is a legal requirement that within one month of publication, a copy of every book published in the UK, which is available for sale, is sent to the six Legal Deposit Libraries. Pelican Publications will carry out this task for you. If you intend your work to go on general sale it will need to have an ISBN number (International Standard Book Number). This is a number identifying your work that is used by booksellers, wholesalers, libraries etc. for ordering and listing purposes. Pelican Publications with supply you with as many ISBN numbers as you require. Are there any books that you will not publish? Pelican Publications are interested in publishing most titles, with the exception of writing that we consider to be pornographic, obscene, violent or promoting hatred of any kind. Every author is asked to submit a copy of their work to us for approval. If there are areas that we consider need to be improved, we will ask you to address these issues before we can accept it for publication.
